Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow

The Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow will work closely with the OER Librarian through the fall, spring, and summer to implement open pedagogy programming related to faculty development and to pursue a project focused on open pedagogy. The project will be related to the Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow’s academic interests and will expand and enhance the use of Open Pedagogy at Berea College.

Qualifications

The faculty member serving in this position will have experience teaching with open pedagogy at Berea College, will have participated in Open Berea-sponsored faculty development programming, and will have an interest in developing their own teaching and scholarship related to open pedagogy, as well as a desire to support the implementation and enhancement of open pedagogy at Berea College.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow will serve in this position from fall through end of June. 
Responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • In collaboration with the OER Librarian, co-develop and co-lead the Open Pedagogy Learning Circle. Faculty meet 1 hour a week for 7 weeks to expand their knowledge of open pedagogy and related tools. The program culminates with the creation of a renewable assignment that will be implemented in a course.
  • Advocate for the use of open pedagogy at Berea College meetings and events. 
  • Pursue a focused project, designed in conjunction with the OER Librarian. The project will be related to the Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow’s academic interests and will expand and enhance the use of open pedagogy at Berea College. Examples of possible projects could include:
    • Developing and implementing tools to assess student learning in open pedagogy assignments
    • Developing and implementing an open pedagogy workshop series for faculty 
    • Developing open pedagogy related materials and resources for faculty and students
  • Assist the OER Librarian, as needed, in consulting with faculty colleagues about open pedagogy teaching and scholarship.
  • Participate in other open pedagogy related aspects of the Open Berea program, based on the faculty member’s interests and the program’s needs.

Compensation

A stipend of $3000 for the Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow who serves in the position from fall 2025 through the end of June 2026. The Fellow could also receive funding to attend and present at a conference.

Eligibility

Applicants are welcome to submit proposals for OER grants but are ultimately eligible for one of the two awards, either a grant or a fellow position.
