Special Projects in Public Services

This guide lists many of the special jobs that have been taken on by students and a brief description of each job.

Job Description

LibGuides are online guides webpages, or guides, made within the Springshare system.

They are often used as informational resources for software, how to research, or relaying information.

Students who commit to this special job will follow through with the creation of a LibGuide on a special topic or resource of interest to them, from beginning to end, which includes:

  • Proposing a guide subject to Ms. Peach for her approval
  • Completing training with Ms. Peach on basic principals of guide creation
  • Researching, writing, and building the guide, incorporating Hutchins Library resources whenever/wherever possible

Below are some guides created by students in previous semester, running the gamut of subjects:

Portfolio Creator

The Portfolio is created in LibGuides and serves as an electronic copy of everything accomplished during labor meetings and during special jobs.

The creator of the Portfolio is responsible for:

  • giving every student their own tab
  • splitting items into categories
  • keeping the portfolio up to date
  • writing easy to understand descriptions

At the end of the semester, every student is given a password to their portfolio in order to share with future employers.
