ENG 103: Robillard

ESL and American Culture - Highlights library materials helpful for our International Students

Numbers, ID and Security

Your Berea College ID card is very important. At the library, you will need it to check out materials, reserve a study room, make photocopies and to print. Plus, it acts as your dorm key and meal ticket. Your ID also shows your B or B00 number which is often requested.

A second important number is your Social Security Number (SSN). No one in the library needs your SSN. The best policy is not to give this information out. Your SSN should not be included in a password. If you have questions ask the International Center.

A paper shredder is available for student use at the reference desk.

Tips

  • The library's main entrance is located on the second floor.
  • The reference collection is on the second floor.
  • The circulating collection, books you can checkout, is on the third floor.
  • We are an open stacks library, so you can work in the collection.
  • Have questions or need help? Go to the reference desk
  • When you use a public computer at the library to log on using your network ID and password, remember to “restart” to log off! This will prevent others from accessing your personal information.
  • Be careful of your Berea College B number and the Social Security number you will soon receive.
  • There is a paper shredder at the reference desk you may use.
  • Remember to press “end” when you finish photocopying or printing to close out your account.
  • Scanning is free.
  • Our DVD collection and players are in NTSC format, the standard for North America. They will not play PAL. IS&S tells me there is free software available that allows you to play PAL format DVDs on your computer. Ask at IS&S help desk or Media Services for assistance.
