Screencast-o-Matic: How to obtain the tool

Getting Started                                                                    


Go to the website http://screencast-o-matic.com/

  • Create a new login for the service
  • Write down your user name and password
  • Watch the Screencast-Video How To Below
  • Create a short practice Screen Cast 
  • Save your Screencast to one of the choices (Note: you must have an account for Box, Google Drive or Youtube if you want to save to that format. Otherwise, save your video to the Screencast site or as an MP4.  See the video for steps on saving.) 
  • Add your video to your Moodle site or other website or email for viewing
  • Remember, do not use copyrighted material in your videos, including videos or music that does not allow educational or personal use.  
  • Best practice is to make your videos set to private, non searchable and only viewable to those with a link.

This is an older video used for faculty in a previous pilot project.  References to a "Snow Day" template do not apply to this guide.
