File Transfer and Management

Computer Connection

USB Connection Process

  1. Connect Cable: Mini-USB to computer
  2. Power On H1n: Device must be powered
  3. USB Mode: Select "Storage" when prompted
  4. File Access: Device appears as removable drive
  5. File Transfer: Copy WAV/MP3 files to computer

MicroSD Card Direct Transfer

  1. Power Off H1n: Turn device completely off
  2. Remove MicroSD Card:
    • Open side panel carefully
    • Press card gently until it clicks and springs out
    • Handle card by edges only
  3. Insert into Card Reader:
    • Use built-in SD card slot (with microSD adapter when necessary)
    • Use USB microSD card reader
    • Insert into computer's card reader slot
  4. Access Files:
    • Card appears as removable drive
    • Navigate to STEREO folder
    • Copy files to desired location on computer
  5. Safely Eject:
    • Right-click drive → "Eject" (Windows)
    • Drag to trash or use Eject button (Mac)
  6. Reinstall Card: Insert back into H1n until it clicks

File Organization

  • Folder Structure: Files stored in STEREO folder on SD card
  • File Naming: ZOOM0001.WAV format (sequential numbering)
  • Timestamping: Files include creation date/time in metadata
  • Backup: Always backup important recordings immediately

 

Workflow Integration

Editing Software Import

  • Audacity: File → Import → Audio
  • GarageBand: Drag files directly into timeline
  • Adobe Audition: Import into multitrack or waveform view
  • Pro Tools: Import audio files into session

File Format Considerations

  • WAV for Editing: Uncompressed, full quality
  • MP3 for Distribution: Compressed, smaller file size
  • Archive Originals: Keep WAV masters, distribute MP3 copies
