African Americans have been a significant, if often under represented, part of Appalachian culture. Musically they represent a variety of genres such as fiddle playing, old time songsters, Piedmont style guitar, and blues. In this program we'll listen to some of the African American performers who appeared at the Celebration of Traditional Music during the 1970s. Featured performers are Bill Livers, the Foddrell Brothers, Drink Small, Etta Baker, Buddy Moss, and Sparky Rucker.
