The Steps
Writing that Research Paper:
1. Identify a general topic
2. Do "pre-research": read about your topic on the web and in specialized encyclopedias
3. Articulate a research question
4. Conduct a literature review (meet with a librarian!)
5. Create an annotated bibliography
6. Write an outline
7. Draft your paper
8. Have someone else proofread your paper (a peer? your TA? the Writing Center?)
9. Corrections (include a second meeting with a librarian, if some of your earlier source didn't pan out)
10. Proofread again
